LGG Hosts Easter Egg Hunt for the Fort Meade Community
Ft. Meade, MD. (March 26, 2016) – On Saturday, March 26th, Brothers of Lambda Gamma Gamma Chapter held their 16th Annual Easter Egg Hunt at the Youth Services Center located in Ft. Meade MD. The event is held annually and is open to the military community as well as the public. The event, chaired by Bro. Tommie Bennett, continues to grow each year with a standing room crowd anticipating the start of the event. The ages of the participants range from infants to 13 years old. The children are divided into four age groups, which are infants to 2 years old, ages 3 - 5, ages 6 - 9 and ages 10 - 13. Bro. Chauncey Dockins, who assisted with this year’s event, stated that “The LGG Easter Egg Hunt provides fun activities for the children to participate in such as a coloring contest, raffles and the opportunity to take pictures with our special guests, Ronald McDonald and the Easter Bunny.”
This year’s Easter Egg Hunt hosted over 349 registered children representing over 200 families. This year there were eight (8) special toys for kids who found the special eggs and a prize for the child who guessed how many jelly beans were in the jar. There was also a $10 McDonald’s gift certificate award to a child and, unlike previous years, each child received a McDonald’s Happy Meal toy.
LGG thanks the McDonald’s owner, Brother Bernard McPherson, who participated in this year’s Easter Egg Hunt and we look forward to their participation again in future events. Once again the staff of the Ft. Meade Youth Services Center helped make our annual event a success by allowing the chapter to use their facility.
